It’s our pleasure to introduce you to Lucas Kreimeier aka CRYME. We got to know Lukas through the general fabric of Berlin life and he’s been supporting us as a loyal customer for a while now. We recently had the pleasure of watching him smash it at Else for the most recent installment of ANIMA - after which we insisted he had to do the next edition of the Culture Guide…
(Click that link for ANIMA and if you’re in Berlin for any of their upcoming parties, make sure you go. They slap, differently.)
Ok, we didn’t insist. We asked really nicely and being the absolute Gentleman that he is, CRYME was lovely enough to say yes :)
Here are a few works from the big man before we get onto the juicy stuff:
“I am Lucas Kreimeier, my artist name is CRYME and my Instagram is @ccrryymmee. I’ve had the nickname CRYME (pronounced CRY-ME) since I was at junior school.
I was born and raised in Berlin - a city which I love - and I still live there now, just a little more centrally than where I grew up. I’m a Hardgroove and House DJ and producer and here is my edition of the SPA Culture Guide”
Tell us about the most exciting recent project you have worked on - either personally or professionally…
I’ve been DJing for a few years now and it’s exciting seeing my career develop with bigger gigs and more international exposure. But I think the most exciting thing I have done this last year is to start producing my own music which has been really fun and has opened a new world of creativity. I have two EPs out on Bandcamp and am working on a third. It’s been a wonderful learning experience and I have been amazed at how supportive my friends and colleagues in the Berlin techno scene have been, teaching me and helping me develop my style and grow as a producer.
Please tell us which piece from the S.P.A. collection you’re wearing and what you have styled it with.
I love the S.P.A. Curators Club vest and I wear it with my Benz Bleached Croco jeans from Eytys and Balenciaga Mules.
TRACK OR ALBUM: what's your favourite atm and why?
A track I love right now is the 2020 Edit of “WIR TRAFEN UNS IN EINEM GARTEN” by 2raumwohung. It’s a fantastic re-mix of a classic track from this Berlin band and when I include it in a set the crowd goes wild.
RESTAURANT: what's your favourite where you’re living atm and why?
I think my favourite restaurant right now is my new apartment with my babe’s Mirin Glazed Salmon. It’s delicious, healthy and it only takes 20 minutes to make. (DM me for the recipe).
But that’s not so helpful in a culture guide so how about Schnitzelei on Chausseestraße in Mitte who do the best….. Schnitzel!
MUSEUM / GALLERY: what's your favourite where you're living atm and why?
I love buying art from living artists, supporting people at the start of their career just like me. So I like the exhibitions at tiny galleries like NBB on Karl Marx Allee, Retramp Gallery in Neukölln and the amazing Monopol which is a former distillery in Reinickendorf that has turned into a wonderful artists collective and exhibition space. Twice a year they host the Berlin Affordable Art Market which is amazing!
CLUB / NIGHTLIFE: what's your favourite spot where you're living atm and why?
I think my favourites of the moment are Else & RSO, both in Berlin. Else is a beautiful open air venue that is perfect for the summer and I’m playing twice at ANIMA there this year. I played at RSO for Gegen a few months ago and it’s an incredible space and sound system.
SHOPPING: what’s your favourite hidden gem of a shop to go clothes shopping where you’re living atm and why?
My favourite store in Berlin is Voo Store in Kreuzberg because of their great curation of big and small brands.
FILM: what’s the best film you’ve watched recently and why?
CLIMAX - it's a French psychological horror shot on a tiny budget in only fifteen days. It follows a bunch of dancers at their Xmas party which goes very, very dark and wrong when LSD is added to the sangria punch. The film was unrehearsed and most of it is improvised with loose direction and actors given freedom with the dialogue. If it sounds unhinged, it is. You have to watch it to see what amazing art came out. I was glued to it on the edge of my seat from start to finish.
TV: what’s the best series you’ve watched recently and why?
I love a Netflix binge so Stranger Things and Locke and Key are up there. But my absolute favourite is Ted Lasso. I played football for FC89 Hennigsdorf for ten years and Ted Lasso is a comedy-drama centred on a football team. What I love about it is that it developed into such a beautiful show about kindness, love, understanding and supporting each other. It really exemplified what I love about the Berlin techno scene and it’s the most heart-warming and lovely programme to watch.
Anything else you want to add?
Be kind, be happy and smile while you dance :-)
